The contradiction of tolerance

The contradiction of tolerance

The inherent contradiction at the heart of the call for 'tolerance' was always going to come to a head. Eventually 'tolerance' would meet complete intolerance, and then what? It cant accept intolerance because it is contrary to itself, but if it doesn't accept intolerance it becomes intolerant and defeats itself.

So now we have a society that prides itself on its tolerance facing a part of itself that is totally intolerant, and it doesn't know what to do. It cannot fight the war that is being imposed on it by the intolerant - the Islamists - because to do so would make it intolerant. But if it does not fight that war eventually the intolerant Islamists will win and we'll all be part of one of the most intolerant political systems ever.

This is inevitable if you make tolerance your highest good. Tolerance is not a foundation you can build a nation on. Justice, righteousness, compassion, those are things you can build a nation on. Then you will know how to deal with the evil seeking to impose itself on our society. Treat everybody with justice, righteousness and compassion, and completely oppose the totalitarian system that is attacking us.
